Now four races in, the 32 Racing Honda Fit TCB has established its own presence despite being a rookie team in World Challenge. Jonathan Baker, owner and primary driver, has built a program that has proven the car and the team can be competitive. At Mid-Ohio, the team finished 6th while running with the lead pack the entire race and having the second fastest lap of the race.

With progressing headway, 32 Racing has managed to appeal to contracted drivers for multiple race events. The next event at Sonoma offers Ferrari Challenge driver Harry Cheung an opportunity to establish a presence in World Challenge using the 32 Racing Honda Fit. The team aims to expand its footprint in World Challenge by adding more cars to the team for the 2014 season with arrive-and-drive seats available to contracted drivers.

The cars from RaceLabz and 32 Racing were featured for the spotlight. Dave Ade of San Antonio, TX rented the 32 Racing Honda Fit Sport for the World Challenge event. Dave comes from a Spec RX-7 background, and still holds the track record in the competitive Mid-Atlantic region. With some good coaching from teammate Joel Lipperini of RaceLabz, Dave was able to work his way through the pack during the race, getting into the top 10. An unfortunate spin ahead of him resulted in front-end damage that hurt his pace for the remainder of the race, where he finished 11th. We hope to see Dave again for his home race at the Streets of Houston!

32 Racing debuted their 2012 Honda Fit Sport built by RaceLabz at Circuit of the Americas with World Challenge. Due to time constraints, this was the team’s first outing with the car. Despite this disadvantage versus a veteran field, the team improved their pace and position between all 7 sessions for the weekend, literally. In the final race, the car was fighting for 5th place and catching the lead pack when a collision-avoidance maneuver set them back. Despite the team’s first non-podium finish in over a year and a half, 32 Racing is excited for the challenge and determined to continue a steep learning curve with this B-Spec racing.
